Anniston Star
In the misnamed Peace and Good Will community about one o'clock Sunday morning 
Cornelius Tyler, Negro farmer, shot his 18-year-old stepson, Charley Whatley, who 
died three hours later. Tyler came to Roanoke and surrendered to local police 
claiming self-defense. The sheriff was called and he lodged the killer in the 
Randolph County Jail at Wedowee.
