Anniston Star
A 9-year-old Randolph County schoolboy, Lawrence Joel White, Woodland, Rt 1, died 
instantly yesterday afternoon when he fell under the rear wheels of a school bus, 
the State Highway Patrol disclosed. Highway Patrolman Roy McDowell said the youth 
died about 2:45 o'clock on Providence Church Road in rural Randolph County about 
3.2 miles east of Woodland. McDowell said White was apparently standing near the 
door of the school bus when the bus stopped to let off another boy. White fell 
out the door and under the rear wheels of the bus, the patrolman said. Driver of 
the bus was identified as Jodie Palmer. No charges were placed against him, 
however.
