The West Point News
On last Wednesday evening, May 8th, at nine o'clock death came into the home of 
Mrs. Leona Canady and bore away the spirit of her only daughter, Tessie Canady 
White to its eternal home. Tessie was born at Langdale, Ala. in the year of 1905 
and spent her life in the Valley. In 1926 she married Tip White. She leaves 
besides her husband and two small children, Tip, Jr., two years of age and 
Dorothy Jean only two weeks old, her mother, Mrs. Leona Canady, two brothers, 
Herman and Waites, Fairfax. These sorrowing loved ones have the sympathy of 
numerous friends to whom Tessie by her sweet and lovable disposition had 
endeared herself. The love in which she was held was manifest in the many words 
and deeds of sympathy and the many beautiful flowers of. The funeral was 
conducted Friday afternoon by Rev. Matthews, of Five Points, Ala., a former 
pastor, and very dear friend of the family assisted by Revs. M. W. McCain and H. 
A. Forester. Honorary pallbearers and flower girls were twelve of Tessie's best 
girlfriends. The burial was at Greens Chapel near Wedowee and near the former 
home of her parents and the body placed beside that of her father, Rufus Canady, 
who passed on a good many years ago. There in the shade of the oaks on the 
hillside she will await that glad resurrection day and reunion with all her 
loved ones. We can't understand why Tessie so young and with seemingly so much 
to live for, should be taken. We only know God makes no mistakes and doeth all 
things well and with His sickle keen He reaps the flowers along with the bearded 
grain. The loved ones have the sincere sympathy of many friends in this hour of 
sorrow.
