Payne said today that the death of James L. Williams near Newell on April 9 was a suicide. He said Mr. Williams, a resident of Anniston, Rt 3, died of self-inflicted rifle bullet wound in his car near the home of his parents in that rural community. The dead man was a native of Newell and had lived in the Anniston area for over a year. He was a route man for Calhoun County Creamery, serving the Jacksonville area. Funeral services for Mr. Williams were held last Saturday at Smyrna Church in Randolph County, and burial was la the church cemetery. His survivors include the widow. Mrs. Grace Williams, five sons, Willis, Jimmy, Bobby, Kenneth and Jerry Williams: and one daughter, Christine Williams, all of Anniston, Rt 3; the parents. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Williams, of Newell; four brothers, Ellis. Wilbur and Noel Williams, all of Anniston, and Howard, of Newell; and two sisters, Mrs. Alma Cofield and Miss Millie Williams, both of Newell.
