WOOD DIED ON FEBRUARY SECOND Roanoke, Ala., Feb. 2 The death at 10:30 Tuesday night of Mr. Wyatt W. Wood removed one of the pioneer citizens of Roanoke. He was born at Chulafinnee in 1857, moved to Georgia in early life and came to Roanoke in 1890 when the town had a population of only a few hundred people. He entered the hardware business here and during the days of his activity he was not only a very successful business man, but was active in church and community work, having been an official of the Methodist church and a member of the city council. On account of failing health, he retired from active business about ten years ago. Of his immediate family, his wife and five children survive him: Mrs. W. T. A. Huey W. T. Wood W. Blake Wood of Roanoke Mrs. H. D. Cowden of Cordova Mrs. C. G. Rodgers of Baltimore Also, there are three brothers and three sisters: T. B. Wood of Monroeville Mrs. Dicie Sappington of Ozark Mrs. J. M. Zachry of Roanoke Byrd Wood of Frolona, Ga. Mrs. J. M. Bartlett of Bowdon, Ga. Dr. F. R. Wood of Heflin There are five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon with interment following in the city cemetery.
