MEACHAM DIED SUDDENLY ---------------------------- Nov. 29—Saturday at 1 p.m. Mr. W. B. MEACHAM, a prominent citizen of this section, was stricken with sudden death at his home near Lime, while sitting in his chair. We feel that our community has lost one of its best citizens. He was 62 years old, and leaves a wife and several grown children. His remains were carried to Bacon Level Sunday afternoon and laid to rest with Masonic honors, after a discourse by Rev. E. M. GLENN. A large congregation was present. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 1 December 1915, p.1] ---------------------------- A CARD ---------------------------- To those friends who were so generously kind in their ministrations to us during the hours of our sudden and dark bereavement, we wish in this way to express in a measure the appreciation that fills our hearts. We feel the weakness and meaninglessness of mere words in this expression, but it is our wish that each one be the especial object of our Heavenly Father’s mercies both in this life and the life to come. The husband and father for whom we mourn will be happy to greet you all on that fair shore to which he has gone. Mrs. W. B. MEACHAM and Children. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 8 December 1915, p.1] ---------------------------- IN MEMORY ---------------------------- Of William Banks MEACHAM, who was born Sept. 19, 1853, and died Nov. 27, 1915. To the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Brothers of our Sister Lodges: It is with a heart full of sadness that we officially announce to you that on the 27th of Nov., 1915, our beloved brother, William B. MEACHAM, received the summons which called him before our Supreme Grand Master to give an account of his stewardship. William B. MEACHAM was a devout member of the M. E. [Methodist Episcopal] Church, South, and had raised a large family to the age of accountability, which our country is proud of. Brother MEACHAM had been a Master Mason for 37 years according to his record. He was initiated March 25, 1878, passed April 9, 1878, raised April 27, 1878, and these words were his daily prayer. “Supreme Grand Master, set my footsteps by the plumb, keeping my heart by the square, give strength that I may always be as near as mortal can, the dual type of excellence, a Mason and man.” Given under our hands and the seal of Rock Mills Lodge, No. 353, A. F. and A. M. A. J. PIKE, W. M. [Worshipful Master] C. V. ATKINSON, Sec.[retary] [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 29 December 1915, p.1] ---------- William Banks MEACHAM, 19 September 1853-27 November 1915, S. E. MEACHAM, his wife, born and died?, Fletcher MEACHAM, 12 January 1886-14 August 1900, his son. There is no marked grave for William B. MEACHAM in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Bacon Level, Randolph County, Alabama. However, there are three unmarked graves next to the marked grave of Fletcher MEACHAM; two of these are probably the graves of W. B. and S. E. MEACHAM.
