Roanoke Leader
Mrs. Viola Frances Yates was born Nov. 28, 1876 and died January 9, 1943. She 
joined Zion Baptist Church in 1916. Although in failing health for several years, 
she was always patient and kind. She was loved by all who knew her and will be 
greatly missed by her neighbors. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 
Providence. Woodland quartet sang the songs that she loved best. Revs. Tom Kirby 
and Guy Rodgers spoke beautifully of her past life. Burial was in the church 
cemetery, Quattlebaum directing.
