Leon Yates 85 of Route 2 Woodland Ala., The father of two area residents died 
Sunday at the Phenix City Nursing Home. The funeral and burial will be 2 pm CST 
Tuesday at Rocky Branch Baptist Church Woodland according to Benefield Funeral 
Home Wedowee. Mr. Yates was born Nov 2, 1901, in Randolph County Ala son of Mr. 
and Mrs. Rufus Yates. He was a lifelong resident of Randolph County He was a 
retired textile worker and was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church. Survivors 
include his wife Ruth a son Olen R Yates of Smiths Ala, a daughter Josalee 
McDaniel of Phenix City, a brother Alvin Yates of Wedowee six grandchildren eight 
great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren.
