MANNING DIED IN CHILTON ------------------- Last Wednesday [05 Feb 1919] morning Mr. L. W. STITT received a telegram announcing the death of Mrs. Malcolm H. MANNING at her home in Chilton county. She had been in failing health many months and death came as a welcome guest to relieve her from suffering. The remains were met at Roanoke Thursday at noon by relatives and friends and conveyed to Hillabahatchee, her home church, and laid to rest after funeral services conducted by Rev. J. D. O'KEEFE. The news of her death was received with sorrow by every one in this section [Wehadkee]. She was formerly Miss Zelma STITT and was reared at this place and had many friends in this county and other parts of the state, where she had taught school. The deceased was 35 years of age and was a noble christian [sic] woman. She leaves a husband, five sisters and one two [?] brothers.
