Rolley was called back into service for World War II, and they moved to New Orleans, where R. J. was born. After Rolley was discharged from the Navy in 1944, the Rhodes family returned to Woodland, where the third son, Clarence (not pictured), was born. The family moved to Anniston in the mid-1950s, and Rolley began his third career at Fort McClellan.
