ALGenWeb Archives File Manager Carolyn Golowka, ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by William Fischer, Jr. March 2001 MISS JESSIE WOOD AND MR. WOOD, 4 Sep 1857--2 Feb 1932, and Olivia Lee WOOD, 10 Dec 1864--13 Jun 1938], at two o'clock this afternoon, when their daughter, Miss Jessie, will be married to Mr. Charles G. RODGERS. This event is attracting wide-spread interest among the friends of this popular couple. Previous to the ceremony, which will be performed by Rev. S. L. DOBBS, a violin solo will be rendered by Miss Mary DOBBS, accompanied by Miss Fannie DOBBS, who will also play the wedding march. A pretty prelude to the appearance of the contracting parties will be the entry of Master Yancy CHEWNING and little Miss Mary Beth TATUM, scattering flowers in their pathway. Little Miss Theo MOORE [30 Aug 1906--18 Jan 1916] will be the ring bearer. Misses Tommie WOOD [1 May 1885--21 Apr 1921] and Bernice ZACHRY [YOUNG, 1 Sep 1892--9 Nov 1983], in white coat suits, will be bride's maids. The prospective groom will be accompanied by his brother, Mr. Robert RODGERS, while the bride-elect, attired in a brown traveling dress, will be attended by her brother, Mr. Theo WOOD [Winston Theo WOOD, 12 Aug 1888--10 Dec 1963]. After the ceremony is concluded, and friends have expressed their good wishes and felicitations, Mr. and Mrs. RODGERS will leave on the A. B. & A. [Atlanta, Birmingham, & Atlantic Railroad] for a visit to the former's relatives in Macon and other points in Georgia, before proceeding to their future home at Davisboro, Ga. Mr. RODGERS is agent for the Central of Georgia Railway at the above named point. He was formerly connected with the local office of the A. B. & A. Railroad, and made many friends, who congatulate [sic] him upon winning one of the most popular and handsome young ladies in all of Roanoke's younger set.
