The ceremony occurred at the palatial residence of Capt W A HANDLEY, the bride’s great-uncle, and was witnessed only by a few relatives and neighbors. Rev George STOVES performed the ceremony. The marriage was unannounced and was altogether an informal affair. The bride was one of Roanoke’s most lovable and popular young ladies, and the good wishes of hosts of friends attend her. The groom is a genial gentleman, whose original home was in Texas. He is a civil engineer, and first met his bride while working on the survey of the A B & A railroad through Roanoke some two years ago. Mr and Mrs SMITH left Sunday for Hazelhurst, which will be their home for the present.
