The ceremony occurred at 8:30 o’clock at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs Mary SHARP. Rev George STOVES spoke the impressive works that united two devoted hearts and promising lives. Only a few intimate friends witnessed the ceremony. Immediately afterwards the bridal party repaired to the residence of Mr and Mrs J M BELCHER, where a reception was tendered the bride and groom, which was attended by many friends of the newly wed pair. The scene was one of enchanting beauty. The lovely home was made more inviting by an abundance of pot flowers and ferns at every turn. The dining hall, where the choicest refreshments were served, was decorated in white and pink. Mrs J M BELCHER, as hostess, won hearty thanks and congratulations upon her happy yet informal manner of entertaining her fortunate guests, and of welcoming to their new home Mr and Mrs J B BELCHER. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs John W BELCHER, and is one of Roanoke’s most deservedly popular young gentlemen, being a successful business man and liberal citizen. His royal good nature and splendid moral character have won for him many friends, who are offering him hearty congratulations. The bride of last evening has taught for several terms past in the public schools of this city. She is a young lady of superior ability and possesses those characteristics which make the value of true womanhood beyond compare with rubies. She will surely adorn the life and make glad the heart of the one to whom she has pledged her love and loyalty.
