AN EARLY MORNING MARRIAGE SERVICE

A most interesting event was the pretty and impressive marriage service celebrated at the 
First Baptist Church of this city [Roanoke] at 8 o’clock this morning, in which Mr. W. H. 
McDANIEL and Miss Nelle BRITTAIN united their fortunes for life.

Quite a large party of friends assembled in the auditorium which had been becomingly 
decorated, to witness the nuptials of this popular couple. Messrs. J. A. MORGAN, of 
Heflin [Cleburne co., AL], O. B. YATES, of Lineville [Clay co., AL], T. H. RADNEY 
and Junior JONES [B. C. JONES, Jr.], of Roanoke, acted as ushers. As a preliminary 
feature a chorus was rendered.

Mrs. Wade CARLISLE, at the organ, rendered Lohengrin’s Wedding March as the bridal 
party appeared. The ribbon bearers, Miss Ethel REID, of Palmetto [Fulton co., GA], Mary 
JONES, Carrie Fannie NICHOLS and Mary Will CHEWNING, of Roanoke, attractive in 
white linen coat suits, advanced to the front and took position, with the ushers, on either 
side of that reserved for the bride and groom elect.

The former, becomingly clad in a traveling suit of aeroplane blue, entered upon the arm of 
her brother, Mr. A. N. BRITTAIN, of Palmetto, Ga. The groom-elect was attended by his 
brother, Mr. S. R. McDANIEL, of Conyers, [Rockdale co.] Ga., as best man. Meeting in 
front of the rostrum, the affianced pair responded to the pledges of life-long devotion as 
spoken by the officiating minister, Rev. F. H. FARRINGTON. The tones of Mendelsohn 
accompanied the bridal party as it retired from the building.

Mr. and Mrs. McDANIEL repaired at once to the A., B. & A. [Atlanta, Birmingham, & 
Atlantic Railroad] station, and departed for Conyers, Ga., to spend a few days with the 
former’s parents. Shortly after returning they will be at home in the Worrill residence, on 
Kirk Street.

The uniting of the hearts and lives of this excellent couple is the occasion of genuine 
pleasure to very many friends, who regard it as a most auspicious mating, since each 
represents that which is noblest and best in heart and life. Surely the future holds in store 
for them many happy, useful years.
