FLOYD, Jr., treated his many Roanoke friends to a pleasant surprise by his marriage last Wednesday [30 Jun 1909] in Enterprise, [Coffee county] South Alabama, and bringing his bride at once to this city as the best confirmation of the good news. Dr. and Mrs. FLOYD arrived Thursday, and will be the guests of the former’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. W. G. FLOYD, Sr., till tomorrow, when they will return to their home in Enterprise. The bride was formerly Miss Clara LONDON, of St. Louis, and was engaged in the millinery business in Enterprise. She is an attractive young lady, of fine appearance, and made many friends in her adopted home. The groom is a member of one of Roanoke’s most prominent families, and was popular here as a youth before going out into the world to make his fortune. About a year ago he located in the thriving South Alabama town of Enterprise to practice his profession -- dentistry. Good reports of his success in business have been received, and now that his good fortune has culminated as above noted, he is deserving and receiving the hearty congratulations of many friends, in which The Leader joins. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 7 Jul 1909, p.1] [Portraits of the newlywed couple are on the front page of the 14 Jul 1909 issue of The Roanoke Leader.
