Volunteers Filed Sept. 21/62 (First Document) (Note: some parts of this document are extremely hard to read.) Final Statement of Augustus C. Blasengame, deceased, late a private of Company F, 6 Regiment Cavalry, killed at the Battle of Seven Pines, 31st May 1862. Instructions - Bounty should be allowed only to those who volunteered, or re- enlisted under the Acts of Congress granting the same, and to those who were kept in the service by the Conscript Act beyond the term of their original enlistment. No calculations need to be gone into in filling up the final statement, but the dates should in every instance be accurately given. The effects left by deceased soldiers and officers should be turned over to the regimental or post quartermaster and his receipt therefore sent to the Second Auditor. It is not necessary to make duplicates of final statements. Augustus C. Blasingame Born in Russell County, State of Alabama, was enlisted by Capt. B. C. Baker at (unable to read) on the 2nd day of May 1861 to serve for 12 months and was retained by Act of Congress on the (unable to read dated) and died (or was killed or discharged) at Seven Pines on the 31st day of May 1862. He was last paid by Majr. E. C. Harris, Quartermaster, to include the (unable to read) day of Dec. 1861 and is entitled to pay therefore, to the 31st day of May 1862, at which time he Killed. He has not received the county of $.50. He is entitled to compensation for transportation in lieu of furlough from (left blank) and back, which is (left blank) miles, He is entitled to commutation for clothing from the 12th day of Nov. 1861 (the time to which he was last paid) to the 31st May. He is entitled to commutation for rations (unable to read) days at (left blank) per day. There is due him for use and risk of horse from (left blank) to (left blank) at 40 cents per day. Blassingame, Administrator &c whose name is signed to the foregoing Power of Attorney and who is known to me, acknowledged before me on this day that being informed of the contents of said Power of Attorney, he executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date. And I further certify that this very certificate is in due form of law and by the proper officer. Given under my hand and seal of office this 17th day of September A.D. 1862 Geo. H. Blassengame, deceased, have nominated, constituted and appointed, and do by these presents nominate, constitute, and appoint Hon. David Clapton of said State, my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name, place, and stead to ask, demand and receive from the proper authorities of the Confederate State Government all sums of money, dues or wages, which may be owing and coming to said Augustus C. Blassengame, deceased, who was a (left blank) in Captain George W. Hooper’s Company F, attached to the 6th Alabama Regiment, commanded by Col. John G. Goodson, and who was killed at the Battle of Seven Pines near Richmond, Virginia, on or about the 31st day of May A.D. 1862, giving to my said attorney, full power and authority to execute all receipts and acquittances (sic) and generally to do and perform all and everything necessary on and about the premises in as full and ample a manner as I could do if personally present.
