Time served: 4 years. Captured at Appamatox and imprisoned at Alexandra Jail, VA. Paroled at end of war. Date given: May 1, 1865. Question asked; 'why. Answer 'order from Gen. Grant. Additional Comments: Additional information was given by two witnesses, however one I can not read. the other was A.B. Walker. Signed in the presence of: C.H. Page, J.P. The questions answered were: What was your Company and Regiment? Answer given was Hardaway(sp?) Battery: Who was your Captain? 'Hurt'. Who was your Colonel? 'McIntosh'. I also have copies of the Pension application of Sara Jane Johnston, formerly Sara Jane Davis, widow of John Walker Johnston and a copy of her death certificate as well as other information including a copy of their marriage license.
