D. Huggin, who received a note ten days ago warning him that he would be “fixed”, was mysteriously attacked on a dark street tonight near his home in Phenix City, Ala. His assailant, a stout white man, attacked him viciously with a knife and Huggin was cut in the face, while the keen knife also grazed the skin just above his heart. His coat sleeve was reduced to ribbons in the desperate encounter and he saved his life only through the vigor of his resistance. All the officers on the Alabama side of the river are now searching for the would-be murderer. The assassination of John W. Mullin, a prominent citizen of Phenix City, several days ago, was preceded by his receiving a note saying that his time had come.
