Edge has just received a large lot of FANS. __________________ What a difference between having a tooth pulled out by Dr. Ewann, and having it kicked out by a mule, or an ox! One is dental, one is accidental and one is oxidental. __________________ OUr sturdy old friend, Moses Strong, who claims to be a black man with a white man's principles says, he'll be damned if he didn't vote right last week. Query - Is that profanity or prophecy? __________________ There are 23 prisoners in jail charged as follows: Murder 3, Burglary 6, Larceny 7, Assault iwth intent to murder 2, Assault and battery 4, and Tresspass 1. 2 white men, 2 negro women, and 19 negro men make it 23. To listen at their vesper songs one would think they were "more sinned against than sinned." ___________________ The Columbus Enquirer says that last Friday afternoon while a heavy rain was falling $20,000 in gold and silver was stolen from a trunk in the residence of Major W. S. Stroud in Russell County, eight and a half miles from Columbus. Maj. S. had been treasuring the money a long time. ___________________ In the case of O.A. Fields vs. the State, the Supreme Court affirms the proceeding in the Court below, and thus reposes another trial. The finding of the jury was murder in the second degree and confinement in the Penitentiary for fourteen years. The Sheriff left with the prisoner the penitentiary on last MOnday afternoon. ___________________ OUr friend Gen. Washington under our evertisement of last sent us in a fine watermelon, which we examined thoroughly and carefully. But afterwards showed us a trick worth 2 of that in the shape of a large piece of ice, as a cooler, which came when old Sol was doing his Sundy best, and had reduced his uniform to that of a Georgia Major - May his shadow (we mean Gen.
