Hood - Russell Co., AL Ledger EnquirerColumbus, GA, Page 3, Oct 28, 1953, MRS. FRANCES HOOD DIES IN PHENIX CITY: Mrs. Frances (E.) Hood, 83 (born 29 Nov 1870), of Rt 2, Auburn Road, Phenix City, died at Cobb Memorial Hospital at 1:30 p.m. yesterday after a one-week illness. Born in Lee Co, Ala., March 19, 1870, Mrs. Hood was the daughter of the late Boss and Frances Carden Hearn. She lived in the Phenix City community all her life. Surviving are four sons, Robert (H.) Hood, Jack Hood, and Gurvis Hood, all of Phenix City, and Dosier Hood, Altanta; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Griffin and Mrs. Edna Scotlin, both of Palm Beach Shores, Fla.; brother, Lafayette Hearn, Goat Rock Ala.; sister Tinna(Mary Tiney) McKissick, Phenix City; several nieces and nephews, 17 grand children, 17 great grandchildren, and three gr great grandchildren. Funeral was to be held 4 p.m. today at Philadelphia Baptist Church. The Rev. Gordon Eddings and Rev. Mr. Spencer were to conduct the service. Burial was to be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were to be Durwood Duke, J.J. Duke, Clifford Duke, Dewey Lingle, Otis Floyd and Donnie Duke. Honorary pallbearers were to be Fr. J. Neal Willis, Dr. R.A. Chipman, Billy Buzbee, Perry Edwards, Chester Murray, and Dr. Clyde Knowles.
