Mooney George A. Mooney, 68, of 619 South 16th Ave., Phenix City, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cobb Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Mooney was born in Phenix City on June 10, 1892, a son of the late O. P. and Louvester J. McCollough Mooney. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was also a member of Painter’s Union Local 348. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nettie Mooney; three sons, George E. Mooney and Oscar P. Mooney of Columbus, and Earl Mooney, with the U.S. Army in Germany; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Watson of Columbus; a stepson, L. L. McCord of Phenix City; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Aubrey Fryer of Columbus and Mrs. Sarah Gates of Phenix City; two brothers, O. P. Mooney and Edwin T. Mooney of Columbus; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
