Pictured are Augusta (née Patrick) Williams and her Grandson Andrew Williams
Jr., circa 1914.  Augusta was my Great Grandmother.  Augusta was the seventh
child of Henry and Harriet “Hag” (née Chambers) Patrick.  Augusta’s siblings
were, in order of birth: Alex; Adam; Ella; Phoebe; Mary; and Lee (all surname;
Patrick).  Augusta was, like her siblings, born prior to Emancipation, in the
Alabama, Georgia, Florida area known today as the Chattahoochee (Chitta (?)
Uchee (Yuchi) Hatchee (River)) Region.

Augusta married Thomas Williams, Sr., from the Russell / Barbour County area. 
Thomas Sr. remembered Emancipation and reluctantly told his children about his
chattel slavery experiences and about another former slave, named "Tom" who may
have also assumed the “Williams” name.  Tom moved west after Emancipation.  

My Grandfather, Thomas Williams, Jr., who died in 1949, was the eldest of six
siblings.  He worked as a Pullman Porter prior to moving to Lake County, Indiana
after the death of his mother, Augusta.  Thomas, Jr. married Serilla Jones and
lived in Hatchechubbee, Russell County, Alabama until the early 1920’s.


Additional Comments:
This picture was "colorized" by a family artist.  

I was born in July 1946 and I also have a colorized baby picture, produced by
the same family artist.
