Bynum, a Justice of the Peace within and for the county and State aforesaid, John Cox, aged about fifty two years, a resident of the county of St. Clair in the State of Alabama who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical John Cox who was a private in the company commanded by Captain George W. Patrick in the 4th Regiment of Alabama Volunteers commanded by Colonel L. G. McMillun in the Florida War, that he volunteered at Ashville Alabama on or about the 3rd day of June 1836 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of one month and eighteen days and was honorably discharged at Montgomery Ala. on the 21st day of July 1836 as will appear by the muster rolls of said company and that he sent his discharge to the office of the Commissioner of Pensions at the time he made his application for bounty land under the Act of 28th Sept 1850. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining bounty land granted by the Act passed March 3rd 1855 and he also states that he had received a warrant for 40 acres no. 27532 and the same is located and he believes he is not entitled to bounty land except as above stated. John Cox Additional Comments: John Cox patented 120 acres in Marshall County, Iowa, on 3 Mar 1858 and assigned this land to Jonathan R. Day.
