March 30, 1903 Birmingham, Ala., March 23. - While talking to Miss Martha Brady, the young lady whom he was to wed, Gilbert Muir, a white miner, shot and seriously wounded himself last night at his father's home in Wylam. There has been found no motive for the deed as yet. The bullet entered his chest and passed through the body, burying itself in the wall behind him.
