Davis, the old Confederate veteran who was shot in the leg with a poisoned bullet from a Yankee gun during the civil war, and who suffered more or less continually afterward, finally died from the effects of the old wound while on a visit to his son, John Davis, at Sycamore, Ala., on 24th day of April last. Mr. Davis was a life-long Democrat, a christian who read his Bible regular, and just before passing over the dark stream kissed his aged and weeping wife good bye, telling her that he was going home to glory.
