All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Diana Quinones audiana@msn.com October 15, 2006, 3:59 am Source: Book D P 456 Probate Court Written: August 3, 1867 State of Alabama, Probate Court,Talladega Co., Special Term 8/3/1867 estate of Robert Worthington, dec'd: This day came T R Burns and filed in court his petition as follows, to wit: To Wm C Thornton, Judge of the Probate court of our county: Theodore R Burns, an inhabitant of said County and over the age of 21 years, respectfully showest that Robert Worthington, who at the time of his death, was an inhabitant of said County, departed this life, intestate, in the year 1864 in the state of Georgia: was killed in Battle, leaving an estate of personal property of the probate value of $700 dollars in said county. That said decedent left his widow, Mrs. Lucinda Worthington of full age, and one child, Mary A Worthington, a minor under fourteen years, residing in said county. Undersigned being a brother-in-law of said deceased, asks that letters of administration on said decedent's estate be granted and issued to him, and he will ever, etc. August 3, 1867 signed T R Burns Sworn to subscribed before me this 3rd August 1867....Wm C Thornton, Judge of Probate. And now comes the said T R Burns and filed in court his bond conditioned according to law in the penal sum of $1400 with two approved securities, and also took upon himself the Oath in such cases made and provided; and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, et. al that the said Robert Worthington dec'd at the time of his death was an inhabitant of this county, that he departed this life in the year 1864 intestate, in the State of Georgia leaving his estate in this county; and that said petitioner T R Burns is an inhabitant of this county of full age and a suitable and proper person. It is therefore orderd by the court that said petition be granted, and that letters of administration on the estate of said Robert Worthington, dec'd issue to said T R Burns this date. Book D p 456. Additional Comments: Robert Worthington, who died in the CW in 1864, was my gr2grandfather, and son of Samuel Worthington and Terissa/Theresa Gorman. His wife was Lucinda C. Sisson, dau of Lemuel and Mary Miranda Donaldson who lived in Blue Eye area of Talladega County. The administrator of his estate, Theodore R Burns, was a brother-in-law and married to Elizabeth Worthington, a sister of the deceased.
