The Ashland Progress June 28, 1928
Two white men, John Robinson and J. D. Buchannan, whose trials were contained 
on the docket of the circuit court for Tuesday, were at liberty Tuesday morning 
as the result of a jail break at the Talladega county jail which took place 
sometime between 9:30 Monday night and 4 o'clock Tuesday morning.

The men made good their escape from the local jail by using a one and one-half 
inch cast iron bar torn from a cell cot to pry away steel bars of their cell 
and also heavy railings guarding outer windows. -- Talladega Home.
