R. Puckett killed by railroad at Troy last Tuesday evening - buried Christmas Day Monday afternoon, December 22, T. R. Puckett left Talladega for Troy Ala., to accept a position with a cotton old company. He reached his destination Tuesday morning at 7 o'clock. Sometime during the morning he had a tooth extracted which had been giving him great pain and annoyance. When next seen, he was sitting on the end of a crosstie near the Central of Georgia depot in an unconscious condition, where he was struck in the left side by a fast frieght, which instantly killed him. Mr Puckett's relatives were notified of the horrible trajedy and the remains reached here Christmas morning. His funeral services were conducted at the family residence by Rev. T M Callaway on the same morning, and the remains, followed by a large number of relatives and friends, were borne to the cemetery and put away. Mr. T.R. Puckett was 53 years old, and had lived in Talladega almost continuously since childhood. He was a man of many admirable traits of character, and a good and industrious citizen. In his immediate famoily he is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters, who have the sympathy of the entire community in the great bereavement. Mr. Chas R Puckett, of Knoxville, and Mrs. M. E. Johnson, of Chattanooga, attended the funeral of their brother, Thomas R. Puckett last week. Additional Comments: Thomas R Puckett was a son of James Franklin Puckett and his wife Virginia Catherine Winn of Abbeville, SC. He married Martha Elouise Williams, daughter of William Sims Williams and Mariah Louise Adeline Taylor. He is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega. His widow, Martha E, died in 1910 and is also buried at Oak Hill with him.
