There is a David Carter who had 33 slaves on the Slave Schedule 1850 in Tallapoosa Co, Alabama. Two doors down from David Carter is a W.M. Carter who had 26 slaves on the Slave Schedule 1850. Possible sons of David Carter are Barna M. Carter (Barney M. Carter b. 1810 GA, James Carter, David Cader Carter, Samuel E. Carter, and Elijah Carter b. 1816 GA). Barna M. Carter (B.M. Carter) is born 1810 in Georgia, he marries to Lucy Wilie/Wylie, they are on the 1840 Montgomery Co, AL Census. In 1837, David Carter and Barna M. Carter are purchasing land in the Montgomery Land Office, along side Lucy Wylie's father, Thomas Wylie. Other Carter males purchasing land in 1837 are John Carter, Samuel E. Carter, James Carter, Cader Carter (later on a Census as David Cader Carter), and Enoch Carter. Barna M. Carter and Lucy Wylie Carter move to Panola Co, TX by 1850, as they are on the Census records there. When B.M. Carter dies in 1862, he says... "DAVID CARTER and my brother living in Alabama".
