George Washington McGinty, b. February 13, 1862 (confirmed by family bible, 
census and gravestone), in McGinty, Chambers Co., AL, d. September 13, 1947, in 
Camp Hill, Tallapoosa Co., AL (death certificate). He was the son of William 
Pitts and Ann Moore McGinty of Chambers Co. He married Francis Emma Handley, 
December 18, 1889, in Tallapoosa Co., AL, William Lively, pastor. She was 
called Emma. They had five girls, Oriel N., Nancy Ozella, Rosa Emma , 
Georganna “Lala” and Lou Ella (1894-1898). He is shown in the 1900-1930 census 
as a farmer. Deeds show that he made a land purchase from R.A. Henderson in 
Section 15, Township 21, Range 24 containing 30.37 acres. He is buried, along 
with Frances, whose gravestone shows the death date of October 29, 1944, at the 
Camp Hill cemetery on Hwy. 50 in Camp Hill, AL (photo). Death certificate shows 
cause of his death at age eighty-five was pneumonia, arteriosclerosis and  
heart disease.
