Her parents were Alfred Brewer and Mary Douglas/ Coleman. Her family moved to Henry County, Georgia where her brothers were born. She and her siblings and her parents were living in Henry County, Georgia in 1850. Her father moved the family to Tallapoosa County, Alabama after 1850. Her father died in 1855. His will was contested by several of his children from his first marriage. Her father had been married to Nancy Jackson and had 4 children. She died in 1836 and Alfred married second to Mary Douglas/Coleman who had been married to David Coleman. Narcissa was named as a legatee in the will of her father in Tallapoosa County along with her mother and brothers. After her father's death Narcissa lived with her mother and siblings on the plantation in Tallapoosa County. They are found on the census in Beat 5 and Desoto Post Office of Tallapoosa County in 1860. War came to the south and to Alabama in 1861. Narcissa saw two of her brothers enlist and go off to fight. After the war she married Tillman S. Simmons in 1866. Tillman was a Confederate veteran, He had served in the 63rd Alabama Infantry. Narcissa's brother, Lucious, served with Tillman in the 63rd Alabama. This may be how Tillman and Narcissa were introduced. The Simmons family and the Brewer family lived in Tallapoosa County. Narcissa and Tillman began their life together and started a family. Her husband was a farmer. Life was hard for the people of Alabama after the war and during the Reconstruction period. Tillman had many family members living in the east Tallapoosa County area. Narcissa and TIllman were living at Jones Cross Roads in 1870. They moved the family to Rome Precinct and were living there in 1880. They moved to East Tallassee and were recorded on the 1900 census living in Reeltown Precinct. After 1900 Narcissa moved with her husband to Phenix in Lee County, Alabama. Her husband became very ill and died in Phenix in 1904. He had suffered from Bright's disease and had a stroke. After her husband's death Narcissa filed for a pension as a widow of a Confederate soldier. She received the pension and was living with her daughter and son in law in Phenix in 1910. Narcissa died in 1917 and was buried with her husband at Philadelphia Church Cemetery near Smith Station in Lee County, Alabama. Narcissa and Tillman had 5 children that lived to adulthood.
