AL SURVEY DATE: August 27, 2001 LOCATION: Blue Creek area on backwaters from Lake Martin Dam. Union Community, Tallapoosa Co. AL. ( In 1880 to 1920 census often called District 10 - Eufala. Some early 1900's records show Post Office as "Susanna") DIRECTIONS: Hwy 49 (From Tallassee 49 North and from Dadeville 49 South) to Walnut Hill. West onto Hwy 50 and go 5.3 miles. Turn right on Centerpoint Road. Go 2 miles and after a sharp curve turn left on Company Street. Go .2 miles and Cemetery is on left. DESCRIPTION: Cemetery is in poor condition with many stones broken and/or Deteriorated from weather and several unmarked grave sites. The picket/wire fence that once surrounded this cemetery has collapsed or is missing around parts of the perimeter. There are numbered metal stakes however most cannot be read. Earliest legible burial date was 1886. Latest interment was 1975. Separating the cemetery from the backwaters is a concrete retaining type wall with the inscription "CENTER PORT CHURCH ESTABLISHED 1873 THE PRESANT CHURCH WAS BUILT 1885. PASTER WAS JOH. UMPRES, PREANT. PAST J .A. SMITH" Following are the tombstone inscriptions, which could be read.
