Calvary Cemetery by Judy Huff N 33 05.350 W 085 41.129 From downtown Daviston on State Hwy. 22, turn left onto Motley Road (Co. Rd. 79) and go 2.7 miles. Turn left onto Dipping Vat Road (dirt road). Go 2.3 miles to Old Dutch Road and turn left. Cemetery is about 1/10 mile on the left side of the road in the woods. There is a small sign there just off the road. He told that Mt. Calvary Church “I think burnt” and they moved it to present day Mt. Zion area. Mt. Calvary was a hard shell Primitive Baptist Church and later Mt. Zion Methodist was built side by side, the area became known as Double Churchs and the two churches looked just alike. Later, Ramond Thrifts father, John T. Thrift helped take the old Mt. Calvary Church down for lumber. He also told that Mary Elizabeth Colley and her family are buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery along with her brother and parents in unmarked graves. He also told that his grandparents are buried at Mt. Calvary with the Nix family (Thrift?) African-Americans Buried Mt.
