Note: There are five gravestones where the inscriptions can not be read. It is believed by some that these are "Canada" graves. There are also two double-sized plots surrounded by very old rock enclosures, one by the road and the other some distance from the road. One of these may represent the graves of John Spain and Mary "Polly" Touchstone, parents of Littleberry Spain who died between 1855 and 1860. Also never found have been the graves of Henderson Threadgill (father of James Allen Threadgill) and his third wife, Milly Ann Granger, who are unaccounted for after 1860. There are also three graves on the Threadgill-Spain side of the cemetery that are probably for children. They have no formal marker but are marked head and foot with rock slabs embedded in the soil. These may be the graves of three children of J.S. and Molly Threadgill McHargue buried near the graves of their grandparents (James Allen and Mary Hannah Spain Threadgill) and grandparents (Littleberry and Elizabeth Smith Spain). James Allen Threadgill has two grave markers in Spain-Threadgill Cemetery, one old and one new. The older one is a decorative stone pillar at the head, engraved: J. A. Threadgill Born Sept 16 1838 Died Sept 3 1916 The newer marker is a full-length flat marble slab engraved: James Allen Threadgill Born Sept. 16, 1838 Died Sept. 3, 1916 Co. B 47th Alabama Regiment C.S.A. Mary Hannah Threadgill also has two grave markers in Spain-Threadgill Cemetery.
