The Heirs of Jesse Morgan Petition to Sell Land Filed in Office this 18th Sept. 1847 J A Jordan clk. State of Alabama Tallapoosa County To the Honorable the Judge of the County Court of Tallapoosa County The petition of John J. Holley administrator & Elizabeth Morgan administrator, of all and singular the goods and Chattel rights and Credits of Jesse Morgan late of said county deceased respectfully herewith. That said deceased seized and possessed a certain tract or parcel of land situate in the County of Tallapoosa and known as section thirty six (36) in Township twenty two (22) of Range (23) also one hundred and seventy five acres of the East half of section thirty five (35) in Township twenty two (22) of range twenty three (23) out of which lands dower has been allotted to the widow Elizabeth Morgan, also an undivided half (1/2) of the east half (1/2) of the south west quarter of section five (5) in the Township twenty four (24) of range twenty two (22) all lying the county and state aforesaid. That it is necessary to divide the before mentioned tracts of land between the heirs of the said Jesse Morgan and that the said land cannot be equally, fairly and beneficially divided among the heirs without a sale thereof ---- That said Jesse Morgan left seven daughters, all of full age who are the heirs of said estate, that is to say Mary wife of Greenlee Holley, Sara wife of Bartholomew Turner, Francis wife of Williamson DuBerry, Elizabeth a wife of Petitioner Holley, Susan widow of Drewry Brewer late of said county, Caroline late wife of Harry Gillam all of the county and state aforesaid, and Sarah wife of John Honners of Coosa County & state aforesaid. The said Caroline late wife of Harry Gillam left four minor children and heirs to wit, Robert, Jesse M, William and James (page break) Petitioner prays therefore that said proceedings may be had in the premises as the Law directs & that a sale of the before mentioned land may be ordered for the purposes aforesaid to the statue in such cases made and provided . Has the following heirs: Mary (Polly) wife of Greenlee Holley (Tallapoosa) Sara A. Barnett (Tallapoosa) Nancy wife of John Honners (resides in Russell Co.) note: I am not sure about the spelling. I could not find them in either the Coosa or Russell Co. census. Children of Elzabeth Ann Holley, deceased Parmalia Slaughter wife of Alfred Slaughter Matilda Burney, wife of William Burney of Limeston Co. Texas James M. Holley Susan Holley There is a note on the index card that Jesse Morgan died in February 1847.
