Edwards ledwards6@nc.rr.com January 18, 2003, 4:27 pm South half of Section 8 in Township 24 of Range 22 Written: February 15 1842 Recorded: March 1 1842 William Luker "for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear towards my two sons Charles S. Luker and Benjamin Luker and also for the sum of $5" sells the south half of Section 8 in Township 24 of Range 22. Witnesses were Wm B. Kimbrough and Simeon Goolsby. Goolsby certified the signature of William Luker in his capacity as clerk of court. Additional Comments: This deed is nearly identical to one dated March 18, 1842, in that it describes the same parcel of land. Apparently, William either changed mind and decided to charge his sons for the property or there was something wrong with this deed. William's wife did not sign it and that may have caused a problem with the title. This is the only known document proving that William was the father of Charles and Benjamin. File size: 1.4 Kb
