Mathews Deed book K page 137 & 138 Stewart County, Georgia (page 137) Georgia ] This Indenture made and entered into on the Stewart County ] twenty fourth day of September in the year of Our Lord One Thousand and Eight hundred and thirty Eight Between William Johnston Attorney in fact for Joseph B. Johnston of Tallapoosa County and State of Alabama on the one part and Jacob G. Mathews of the County & State first aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth the said Wm. Johnston attorney as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing Signing and delivery of these presents the receipt Where of is here by acknowledged hath Bargained and sold and does by these presents bargain grant and sell unto the said J.G. Mathews his heirs or assigns all that tract or parcel of land containing Two hundred Two and one half acres be the same more or less. Situate and being in the Twenty fourth district of originally Lee now Stewart County Known and distinguished in the plan of said district as No one hundred and Twenty seven to have and to hold (page 138) the above Bargained premises to gether with all and Singular as the rights Members and appurtenances thereof belonging or in any wise manner pertaining unto him the Said Mathews his heirs or to other own proper use benefit and behoof for use in fee simple and the said Wm. Johnston attorney as aforesaid Will the above Bargained premises unto them the said Mathews his heirs & Warrant and forever assign the rights & title thereof against the claims of himself attorney as aforesaid all and every other person or persons what ever.
