DAVIS 1853 The State of Alabama Tallapoosa County This indenture made the thirteenth day of August one thousand fifty two between Silas Ray and his wife Sarah Ray of the county and state of the one part and Underhill E. Davis of the county and state of the other part witnesseth that the said Silas Ray for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Underhill E. Davis at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof hereby acknowledges I do hereby bargain sell and confirm unto the said Underhill E. Davis (can’t read) tract or parcel of land to wit the south west quarter of the south east quarter of Section 26 in Township 123 Range 22 in the above state and county containing fifty acres more or less together with all and singular the rights and appurtenances unto the said Underhill E. Davis that his heirs and assigns forever and we the said Silas Ray and Sarah Ray do covenant with the said Underhill E. Davis that (can’t read) are lawfully signed in fee simple of afore granted premises and that we have a good right to sell and convey the (can’t read) and that we will (can’t read) and forever defend the (can’t read) and title of the (can’t read) premises unto the said Underhill E. Davis his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons by virtue of these presents in witness whereof the said Silas Ray and Sarah Ray have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.
