EMERY PATTERSON TO SILAS RAY 1838

The State of Alabama
Tallapoosa County

Know all men by these presents that Emery Patterson of the County and State 
aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty dollars 
to me in hand paid by Silas Ray of the same county and state the receipt which 
I do hereby acknowledge do hereby giv3, grant, bargain and sell unto the said 
Silas Ray his heirs and assigns forever the following piece parcel or tract of 
land namely the South East Quarter of the South West Quarter of Section Twenty 
Six in Township Twenty Two Range Twenty Two in the district of lands subject to 
sale in Montgomery Alabama containing forty acres and twenty sixth hundred of 
an acre.  To have and to hold the said tract of land unto the said Silas Ray 
his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby covenant for me and my heirs and 
assigns to warrant and forever defend the title to the said tract of land to 
the said Silas Ray his heirs and assigns against me and my heirs executors 
administrators and assigns and against every person whomsoever lawfully 
claiming and to claim the same or any part thereof and I do further covenant 
that I am in peaceable possession of the same and that IO have a complete and 
legal right and title to sell the same and that the said tract of land is in no 
wise incumbered and that I will make and deliver to said Silas Ray his heirs 
and assigns other and betters titles if necessary whenever they are demanded.  
In witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day 
of November in the the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty 
eight and of American Independence the sixty third year.
