RAY AND WIFE TO HOLLEY 1859

The State of Alabama
Tallapoosa County
Know all men by these presents, that James M. Ray and Mary M. [sic] Ray, for 
and in consideration of the sum of fifteen dollars, to and in hand paid by Wm. 
J. Holley do hereby give, grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff and confirm unto the 
said Wm. J. Holley, the following described tract of land To wit, the North 
West Quarter of the North West Quarter of Section twenty four (24) Township 
Twenty two (22) of Range Twenty two, East, in the Tallapoosa Land District, 
subject to sale at Montgomery, Alabama: To have and to hold the afore granted 
premises, to the said Wm. J. Holley, his heirs and assigns, to their use and 
behoof forever.  And we do covenant with the said Wm. J. Holley, his heirs and 
assigns, that we are lawfully seized in fee, of the aforementioned premises, 
that they are free of all encumbrances, that we have a good right to sell and 
convey the same to the said Wm. J. Holley, his heirs and assigns, and that we 
will warrant and defend the said premises to the said Wm. J. Holley, his heirs 
and assigns forever, against the lawful claims and demands of all persons.
In Witness, whereof, we the said James M. Ray and Mary Ann Ray have hereunto 
set our hand, and seal this fourth day of May, in the year of our Lord One 
thousand Eight hundred and Fifty nine.

I Wm. R. Rogers, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, hereby certify 
that James M. Ray and Mary Ann Ray, whose names are signed to the foregoing 
conveyance, and who are known to me, acknowledged before me on this day, that 
being informed of the contents of the conveyance, executed the same 
voluntarily, on the day, the same bears date.  Given under my hand, this fourth 
day of May A. D. 1859
