Ray and his wife for and in consideration of three hundred and seventy five dollars to us in hand paid by Salmon Washburn the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge, we hereby give, grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Salmon Washburn his heirs and assigns all that piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in Tallapoosa County aforesaid known and distinguished as the North East Quarter of South West Quarter of Section twenty four (24) Township Twenty two (22) of Range twenty two (22) East containing forty acres be there more or less. To have and to hold the afore granted premises to the said Salmon Washburn his heirs and assigns to their use and behoof forever and we do covenant with the said Salmon Washburn his heirs and assigns that we are lawfully seized in fee of the afore mentioned premises that they are free of all encumbrances that wee have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said Salmon Washburn his heirs and assigns and that we will warrant and defend the said premises to the said Salmon Washburn his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all persons. In witness whereof we the said Ransom Ray and his wife Cassey Ray and James M. Ray and his wife Mary Ann Ray have hereunto set our hands and seals this fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six. Ray whose names signed to the foregoing conveyance are known to me acknowledged before me on this day that being informed of the contents of the conveyance, they executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.
