SANDERS TO RAY 1860

State of Alabama
Tallapoosa County

Know all men by these presents that I John Sanders for and in consideration of 
being indebted to Ransom Ray in the just sum of forty six 22/100 dollars and 
for the payment of one dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do 
hereby acknowledge I have this day bargained and sold and by these presents do 
bargain and sell unto the said Ray his heirs and assigns to my entire crop of 
corn which is being raised to the said Ray, [can’t read] to have and to hold to 
his own use and benefit.  In testimony whereof I hereunto have affix my hand 
and seal on the 29th day of June A. D. 1860.  The condition of the above 
obligation is such that if the said John Sanders [can’t read] to pay the said 
Ray sum of money on the first day of October next then and and [sic] in that 
case the said Ray is hereby empowered to sell at private sale at the customary 
place so much of said crop as shall pay him said loan of money and the balance 
of said crop delivered over to said Sanders.

I Allen D. Sturdivant Judge of the Probate County [sic] for said County and 
State hereby certify that John Sanders the [can’t read] in the foregoing 
conveyance acknowledged before me this day that being informed of the contents 
of the conveyance he secured the same voluntarily on the day the same bears 
date . Witness my hand in office this 30 day of June 1860
