SILAS RAY TO SUSANNAH RAY 1846

The State of Alabama
Tallapoosa County
Know all men by these presents that I Silas Ray for and in consideration of the 
sum of One hundred and fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by Susannah Ray both of 
the State and County aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do 
hereby bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Susannah Ray and to her 
heirs and assigns the following described tract of Land to wit: The North East 
quarter of the South East quarter of Section Twenty six (26) in Township twenty 
two (22) of Range twenty two (22) East in the Tallapoosa Land District subject 
to sale at Montgomery Alabama.  To have and to hold the afore granted premises 
to her the said Susannah Ray her heirs and assigns forever in Fee Simple.  And 
I do covenant with the said Susannah Ray that I am lawfully seized in fee of 
the afore granted premises that I have a good right to sell and convey the same 
to the said Susannah Ray and to her heirs and assigns and that I will warrant 
and forever defend the right and title of the same to the said Susannah Ray her 
heirs and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of all persons.  In 
Testimony whereof I the said Silas Ray have hereunto set my hand and seal this 
25th day of December A. D. 1846.

Personally appeared before William Griffin an acting Justice of the Peace in 
and for said County Silas Ray and acknowledged that he signed the above 
instruments of writing on the day of the date thereof to the said Susannah 
Ray.  Given under my hand and seal this 25th day of December A. D. 1846.

The foregoing deed filed for record 13th January 1846 [sic] and duly recorded 
the 16th day of the same month.
