Pickard for the use of Silas Ray against Joseph Bryan Junior bearing date the Ninth day of May A. C. 1848 I Joseph Johnston Sheriff of the said County of Tallapoosa did lately levy and seize the lots lands or parcels of Land hereafter specified and after being duly and publicly advertised according to Law did at Dadeville in said County of Tallapoosa on Monday the third day of July 1848 present at Public Outcry to sell the same when Silas Ray was the highest and best bidder therefore at the price of Eighty Dollars the same being knocked off to him the said Silas Ray for the sum aforesaid. In consideration of which I Joseph Johnston Sheriff as aforesaid do hereby bargain sell and convey unto Silas Ray his heirs and assigns the following described property viz The South East Quarter of the Section Eight Township Twenty two (22) and Range Twenty two (22) and also a Fraction of Twenty acres more or less of the same Section Township and Range. To have and to hold said bargained property or premises unto the said Silas Ray his heirs and assigns forever. And I the said Joseph Johnston Sheriff as aforesaid do so far as the office of Sheriff authorizes and hereby warrant said property or real estate unto Silas Ray his heirs and assigns and the same to have hold use and enjoy in the same manner the aforesaid Joseph Bryan Junior Defendant as aforesaid could or might have held and enjoyed said property had not the same been seized and sold by the aforesaid writ of Fiera Facias. In Witness whereof I the said Joseph Johnston Sheriff as aforesaid have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of July 1848 Joseph Johnston, Sheriff By his Dept. Luke Davenport The State of Alabama Tallapoosa County I John A. Jordan Clerk of the County Court in and for the said County do hereby certify that on the eighteenth day of September A. D. 1848 the written named Joseph Johnston, Sheriff by his Deputy Luke Davenport personally appeared before me and acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the within written Deed on the day of the date thereof to the within named Silas Ray for the purposes therein mentioned.
