JOSEPH BRYAN TO SILAS RAY 1849

Know all men by these presents that Goode Bryan attorney in fact for Joseph 
Bryan Junior.  For and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to 
me in hand paid by Silas Ray of Tallapoosa County Alabama the receipt whereof I 
do hereby acknowledge do hereby grant bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the 
said Silas Ray the following described parcels or tracts of Land to wit; The 
East half of the South East quarter of Section Eight in Township Twenty two of 
Range twenty two and also Fractions A. and E. of the same Section Township & 
Range Containing one hundred and twenty one acres more or less.  To have and to 
hold the afore granted premises to the said Silas Ray his heirs and assigns to 
their use and behoof forever.  And I do covenant with the said Silas Ray his 
heirs and assigns that I am lawfully seized in fee of the afore granted 
premises that they are free from all encumbrances that I have a goof right to 
sell and covey the same to the said Silas Ray his heirs and assigns and that I 
will warrant and defend the said premises to the said Silas Ray his heirs and 
assigns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all persons 
whatsoever.  In witness whereof the said Goode Bryan attorney in fact as 
aforesaid have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of July in the year 
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine.

I John A. Jordan Clerk of the County Clerk of the County and State aforesaid 
hereby certify that on the Twenty third day of July A. D. 1849 the above named 
Goode Bryan agent [can’t read] of Joseph Bryan Junior personally appeared 
before me and acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the above deed 
to the within named Silas Ray on the day of the date and for the purposes 
wherein named.  Given under my hand at office this 23rd day of July A. D. 1849.
