TATOM TO RAY 1857

The State of Alabama
Tallapoosa County
This indenture made and entered into this the 18th day of December A. D. 
eighteen hundred and fifty between Judson C. Tatom of the County and State 
above written of the one part, and A. Ray of the County of Baldwin and the 
state of Georgia of the other part.  Witness that the said Judson C. Tatom for 
and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars, to him in 
hand paid by the said A. Ray the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge do 
hereby grant, bargain, sell, and convey unto the said A. Ray the following 
described half section of land lying and being in the County of Tallapoosa and 
state above written Viz. the west half of section thirty six Township nineteen 
and Range twenty one containing three hundred and twenty acres more or less to 
have and to hold the afore granted premises to the said A. Ray his heirs and 
assigns that I the said Judson C. Tatom is lawfully seized in fee of the above 
granted premises; that they are free from all encumbrances ; that I have a good 
right to sell and convey the same to the said A. Ray his heirs and assigns and 
that I will warrant and defend the said premises to the said A. Ray his heirs 
and assigns form lawful claims and demands of all persons whatsoever.  In 
witness whereof I the said J. C. Tatom hereunto set my hand and seal the day 
and date above written.

Personally appeared before me John J. Jones an acting Justice of the Peace in 
and for – County and state aforesaid Judson C. Tatom who signed, sealed and 
delivered the within deed to A. Ray on the day and date therein written.  Given 
under my hand and seal, this Sept 10th 1857.

The foregoing deed filed in office for record the 2nd day of November 1863 and 
duly recorded the 5th day of November 1863.
