Ray of the County and State above written is justly indebted to Richard M. Aycock of the same State and County in the Sum of One hundred and twenty five dollars by promissory note made this the 4th day of November 1870, and due the 1st day of November 1871, and I the said J. D. Ray being desirous of Securing the Aycock in the payment of the above note at the time it becomes due I this day bargain, sell and convey unto the said Aycock his heirs or assigns the following property to wit; One thousand lbs. of lint cotton to be delivered in good order and also one bay horse. To have and to hold the afore granted property to his use and behoof forever, on the following conditions, 1st if I the said Ray do pay or cause to be paid the above note by the time it becomes due then these obligations to be null and void, but in case I the said Ray should fail to pay off and discharge the above note at the above time then the said Aycock his heirs or assigns shall have full power to seize upon the above property and after giving twenty days public notice in said County at two or more places in said County, he may proceed to sell at Eagle Hill in said County for cash, so much or all of said property and apply the proceeds of sale to the payment of the above note and cost of sale made and done this the 4th day of November 1870. Ray whose name is signed to the foregoing conveyance who is known to me acknowledged before me on this day being informed of the contents of the conveyance he executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.
