RAY TO CRADDOCK 1870 The State of Alabama Tallapoosa County Know all men by these Presents, that Whereas I Silas R. Ray of the County and State above written am justly indebted to G. T. Craddock in the full and just sum of Two hundred and Sixty six 67/100 dollars by promissory note made this the 16th day of March 1870, and due the 1st day of November next, and I the said S. R. Ray being desirous of Securing the said G. T. Craddock in payment of the above note at the time it becomes due, I this day bargain sell and convey unto the said G. T. Craddock his heirs or assigns the following property, to wit; all of my entire crop of corn and cotton that I may make during the present year 1870, also one mouse colored mare mule about six years old and one cow and calf and one Sow and six Shoats. To have and to hold the afore granted property to his use and behoof forever, in the following conditions, that if I the said S. R. Ray do pay off and discharge the above note at the time it becomes due, then these obligations to be null and void, but should I the said Ray fail to pay the above note at the above set time, then the said G. T Craddock his heirs or assigns shall have full power to seize upon the above property and after giving twenty days public notice in said County he may proceed to sell at Dadeville in Said County, for cash, the afore granted property and apply the proceeds to the payment of the above note and cost of Sale made this the 16th day of March 1870. Ray, whose name is signed to the foregoing conveyance, who is known to me acknowledged before me on this day, being informed of the contents of the conveyance he executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.
