Ray & James N. Orrick of the County and State aforesaid is justly indebted to G. T. Craddock in the full & just sum of three hundred & two 65/100 dollars by promissory notes made this the 25th day of March 1869, and due the 1st day of November next. One note for two hundred & twenty two 65/100 Dollars in Gold the other eight dollars in greenbacks and we the said Ray and Orrick being desirous of securing the said G. T. Craddock in payment of the above notes at the time they become due we this day bargain sell and convey unto the said G. T. Craddock his heirs or assigns the following property to wit; land described as follows, the West ½ of the South West ¼ and the North East ¼ of the South West ¼ all in Section 23 in township 22 of Range 22, also all of our entire crop of corn & cotton that we may make during the present year, also two cows & calves described as follows, one red no horn cow the other white & red spotted and one yoke of oxen. To have and to hold the afore granted property to his use and behoof forever, the condition of the above obligation is such that if we the said Ray & Orrick do pay the above notes at the time they become due then these obligations to be null & void, but if we the said Ray & Orrick should fail to pay off the above notes at the above described time, then the said Craddock his heirs or attorney shall have full power to seize upon said property and after giving twenty days notice in said County, he may proceed to sell for cash at Dadeville in said County, so much or all of said property as will be sufficient to satisfy the above notes and cost of sale, and after satisfying all the above demands, if any money left pay it back to the said Ray & Orrick thru him or assigns. Orrick whose names are signed to the foregoing conveyance who is known to me acknowledged before me on this day being informed of the contents of the conveyance they executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.
