FIELDS AND WIFE TO RAY 1879

The State of Ala.
Tallapoosa Co.
Know all men by these presents that We Richmond Fields and Elizabeth Fields his 
wife for and in consideration of Five hundred $500.00 Dollars to us in hand 
paid by Silas Ray the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge do hereby give 
grant bargain sell enfeoff and confirm unto the said Silas Ray all of lands 
known as the W. L. Walker place lying north of the road leading from Russell 
Ferry to Dadeville Ala being one hundred acres more or less in Section Thirty 
Township Twenty Two Range Twenty Two all in Tallapoosa County and State of 
Alabama and also one half interest in a gin and screw and one ¼ interest in a 
share of land lying on the North West side of the Russell Ferry Road leading to 
Taylors Ferry up the river, to one ½ acres of land on the South East corner 
South of the Russell Ferry Road leading from Russell Ferry in Dadeville where 
the lot is.  To have and to hold the afore granted premises to the said Silas 
Ray his heirs and assigns to their use and behoof forever and we do hereby 
covenant with the said Silas Ray his heirs and assigns that we lawfully seized 
in fee of the fore granted premises; that they are free of all encumbrances; 
that we have a good right to sell and convey the same to the said Silas Ray his 
heirs and assigns and that we will warrant and defend the said premises to the 
said Silas Ray his heirs and assigns forever against the said Richmond Fields 
and Elizabeth Fields have hereunto set our hands and seals this the first day 
of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine.

I, Silas Farrow, J. P. for said County hereby certify that Richmond Fields 
whose name is signed to the foregoing conveyance and who is known to me 
acknowledged before me on this day that being informed of the contents of the 
conveyance he executed the same voluntarily on the day the same bears date.  
And I do further certify that on the 1st day of Nov 1879 came before me the 
within named Elizabeth Fields known to me to be the wife of the within named 
Richmond Fields who being examined apart and apart from her husband touching 
her signature to the within conveyance acknowledged that she signed the same of 
her own free will and accord and without fear constraint or threat on the part 
of the husband.  In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this 1 day of Nov 
1879.

For value received I hereby release the following described lands in this 
mortgage described from the operation of said mortgage viz. all of that land 
known as the Wash. L. Walker lands lying north of the road leading from Russell 
Ferry to Dadeville Ala. Being one hundred acres more or less in Sec. (30) Town 
(22) Range (22) in Tallapoosa County Ala also the interest in the land known as 
the “Gin Place” said release being made with a view that said Fields should 
sell said lands to S. M. B. Ray.  Dated this 12 day of Dec 1879.
